  1. Factorise fully:
    169x2 - 144

  1. Is congruency the same as similiarity?

  1. What are the next three numbers in this sequence?

Explanation: Subtract 3 from the previous term.

  1. Continue each pattern for 3 more terms

Explanation: Multiply the previous term by 2.

  1. A fence will be built to enclose a 100-m by 70-m field.  It will need a post at each corner and one every 5 m.  How many posts are needed?

Answer: 68

Explanation: 2(100÷5) +2(70÷5) = 2(20) +2(14) = 40+28 = 68

Therefore, 68 posts are needed.

  1. Dave is meeting his friends at 7:30 PM.  The average speed of the bus is 28 km/h, and he needs to travel 20 km. When is the latest time he should catch the bus?

A. 6:50 PM

B. 6:43 PM

C. 6:47 PM

D. 6:45 PM

E. None of the above

Answer: C. 6:47 PM

Explanation: Calculate the time to travel 20 km, and then subtract this time from 7:30 PM.

  1. A rectangular yard measures 8 m by 6 m. What happens to the area if each dimension is doubled?

A. It becomes four times smaller

B. Nothing

C. It becomes twice as large

D. It becomes three times greater

E. None of the above

Answer:  E. None of the above

Explanation: 2lx2w = 4xl+w = 4x (old area)

Therefore, the area would become four times GREATER.
